  10.         Daryal T. Gant has been appointed deputy assistant
  11. laboratory director for administrative divisions of the Jet
  12. Propulsion Laboratory by JPL's director, Dr. Lew Allen.
  13.         In his new position, Gant will be involved with the
  14. direction of JPL's business functions, including contract
  15. management, facilities, finance, human resources,
  16. procurement and logistical support.
  17.         Gant is an alumnus of UCLA's Graduate School of
  18. Business Administration and a 27-year veteran at JPL.  He
  19. served as contract manager for the Mariner 10 spacecraft
  20. system, headed JPL's Procurement Division, and most recently
  21. was manager of administrative operations. For his service to
  22. the Mariner project, NASA awarded him its Exceptional Service
  23. Medal.
  24.         He is active in the National Contract Management
  25. Association, which elected him a Fellow in 1979.  In the La
  26. Canada Chamber of Commerce and Community Association, he
  27. represents JPL as a business director.
  28.         Gant and his wife, Mary reside in La Crescenta;
  29. they have two grown children, Brenda and Tracey.
